Loes van Roozendaal’s artistic practice focuses on contemporary painting, with a particular interest in light, time, matter, and memory. Starting from everyday objects such as glass or cash register curtains, the artist explores how visual perception can change depending on environmental conditions, translating these transformations into oil paintings. Her research oscillates between figuration and abstraction, with almost monochromatic planes that make the transience of the moment perceptible, inviting the viewer to a slow and contemplative experience.
Van Roozendaal has exhibited her work in national and international contexts. Solo exhibitions include Single Painting, Domtoren, Utrecht (2023); Seventeen Days of New York, Carlton Arms, New York (2019); and previously Mixed Media at Stadhuis, Amersfoort, and Mixed Media at GrachtenGalerie, Utrecht, both in 2018. Group exhibitions in the Netherlands include Shifting Perspectives, Allard Wildenberg Art Projects, Naarden; Double Exposure, Moving Gallery/Galerie Sanaa, Utrecht; and These Hands Think About You All, Ana Navas, AG, Utrecht, all in 2024. Earlier, in 2023, Blauwdruk at Kunsthal KAdE, Amersfoort.
After an initial artist residency at Estudio Nomada in Barcelona (2016–2017), she collaborated as an assistant with artists and institutions from 2020 to 2024, consolidating her professional practice. Her work has been awarded the Lakeside Collection Award, which included a residency at the Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen in 2024, and has received nominations for the Dooyewaard Stipendium ‘24/’25 (2024) and the Buning Brongers Prize (2024).
