About
Born in Correntina, Bahia, Tarcísio Veloso is a self-taught painter and has been working with oil on canvas since 2015, when he did his first restoration work on a sacred artwork.
A law graduate and resident of São Paulo, Tarcísio has since dedicated himself to art, focusing on painting.
The portraits are mostly painted against a deep and empty background, his characters are usually free of context or setting that could provide clues to the viewer, but tell hidden stories. What happens is left to the imagination, and imagining in Tarcisio's work provokes reflection: without direct references to the narrative context, only the expressions of the protagonists remain, with which the viewer is led to become familiar.
His works are precipices, but they are also bridges between different eras.
