ANGELA GLAJCAR
About
Mainz, 1970. Lives and works in Frankfurt, Germany.
Angela Glajcar is a German artist known for her sculptural installations created primarily with torn and hand-turned paper. Her research focuses on the relationship between matter, space and light, exploring the expressive potential of a fragile and seemingly simple material. Through tearing, overlapping and layering paper, the artist creates dynamic and three-dimensional forms that interact with the surrounding environment.
Her works, often suspended or installed within architectural spaces, transform paper into a sculptural structure capable of generating depth and movement. Light plays a fundamental role, passing through the surfaces and creating shadows that amplify the perception of space. The process of tearing the paper thus becomes a creative gesture that reveals the interior of the material. Her installations evoke both delicacy and strength, balance and tension at the same time. Glajcar’s work exists at the boundary between sculpture, installation and environmental art. In this way, the artist invites the viewer to reflect on the transformation of matter and on the relationship between void and form.
